Inside Aarhus is a photographic exploration of the interior public spaces of the Danish city of Aarhus. The series brings together some of the city’s most distinctive buildings with more ordinary and understated places, ranging from open public institutions to socially shared yet privately restricted spaces.
What unites these disparate interiors is the complete absence of human presence. Freed from their usual activity, these spaces become strangely suspended, inviting a reading that moves beyond their apparent function and familiarity.
Inês d’Orey constructs a tense and ambiguous narrative, deliberately seeking out less obvious perspectives and moments in which architecture appears both familiar and elusive.
Inside Aarhus was part of the project Fresh Eyes, presented at Galleri Image within European Capital of Culture 2017.
All photographs are 80 × 80 cm fine art prints, framed in wood. Edition of 3 + 1 AP.
